It’s amazing what can be achieved when people come together! The community at Jean Todd Close have been working on a fantastic project over the past 2 years.

With plenty of space around the scheme and a high level of interest in gardening among the tenants, a decision was made to convert a patch of unused space into a garden that everyone could enjoy for socialising and growing plants & vegetables. Choice were more than happy to grant permission for the land to be put to use in this creative way.

Early in 2015 tenants and staff embarked on a fundraising effort for the garden, and they have been incredibly successful, with the help of their friends and family, Jean Todd Close raised over £5000 in just 2 years!

Welcoming input from all the tenants, their families and staff, the group then worked together to plan the garden.  Over the year there has been a lot of activity at the scheme as the dream became a reality.  The community at Jean Todd Close created a space that is beautiful and welcoming, and the new garden is a real asset to the scheme and a fantastic example of the power people have when they work together.   The Garden was officially opened on 19th August 2017, by Mrs Jacquelyn Rice the sister of the late Willian Coulter, who lived at Jean Todd Close until he sadly passed away in May 2017. Williams’s family have also planted a tree in this garden in his memory.
