Independent Housing Association Commits to Improvement.

CHOICE Housing, one of the largest independent housing associations in Northern Ireland, was awarded EFQM four star status, during the recent Innovate and Transform Conference hosted by the Centre for Competitiveness (CforC), at Titanic, Belfast.

EFQM helps organisations perform better by creating data-driven insights backed up by organisational experts. The EFQM Model is an internationally recognised change management framework which helps organisations to perform better in line with their purpose and priorities, through an assessment of their maturity against best performance indicators across critical business indicators.

Committed to creating sustainable and thriving neighbourhoods, Choice Housing develops new homes in communities with extremely high demand and delivers quality services while providing value for money.

To achieve four star recognition, the independent housing association was required to complete a detailed self-assessment after which, a team of assessors reviewed the submission and spent three to four days at the organisation’s premises to analyse every aspect of activity.

Describing the accolade as a “fantastic achievement,” Bob Barbour, CforC’s Director and Chief Executive, said the completion of the EFQM programme was testament to Choice Housing’s determination to improve.

“I highly commend any organisation that makes the decision to complete the EFQM programme,” Bob said. “It shows that they are committed to change and want to continue to offer the best services possible to their customers.

“Participating in the EFQM programme certainly isn’t straight forward, organisations are expected to meet extremely high standards of criteria. Therefore, any organisation that successfully completes the programme should be very proud of themselves and their team.

“Congratulations to Choice Housing – being awarded with EFQM four star is a fantastic achievement and one that I’m sure will serve the team and their customers very well in the future.”

Meanwhile, Lawrence Jackson Group Director of Corporate Services at Choice Housing added: “On behalf of the team at Choice Housing, I’m delighted and so proud to have collected the EFQM four star award during CforC’s recent Innovate and Transform conference.

“The completion of the EFQM programme has certainly enabled our organisation to transform and has given us a solid blueprint to further build upon in the future.

“We are dedicated to offering our customers the very best quality services and part of that means ensuring that Choice Housing operates as efficiently and effectively as possible – EFQM has been really helpful in allowing us to do this.

“I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the CforC team who guided us through the incredibly stringent, but very rewarding process.”
