Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council welcomes the return of its full ‘Park Life’ programme of free fun in Wallace Park, Moira Demesne and Moat Park this summer.

From Saturday 23rd July to Sunday 14th August, public events will be held in three of the council’s award winning parks (Wallace Park, Moat Park and Moira Demesne).  The parks will each host a wide range of family fun days each Saturday (2.00pm – 4.00pm) and each Sunday (3.00pm – 4.00pm) there will be a band event.

It is delighted to have received financial support for this free event programme from a number of partners including: Choice Housing, The Executive Office District Council’s Good Relations programme, Lisburn & Castlereagh PCSP and the Housing Executive.

This year’s Park Life programme has events to suit all ages.  They range from a Mini Mela to a Heroes and Princesses day to interactive messy fun with a petting farm and craft workshops.  And all the favourite elements of former Park Life programmes will come together at each scheduled Fun Day.

The Mayor, Councillor Scott Carson said he hoped residents and visitors will support and enjoy the events.  Speaking at the launch he said: “I am delighted our award winning parks will once again host a four week Park Life programme.  They are excellent locations to meet up with family and friends to enjoy the fun and music of Lisburn & Castlereagh Park Life.

“Some families may head away this summer for the first time in two years, but there are others who will stay local.  These wonderful free events for all the family in Moat Park, Wallace Park and Moira Demesne can offer ideal opportunities to entertain the children.  It is gearing up to be a super summer in Lisburn Castlereagh with events right on our doorsteps,” said Councillor Carson.

Councillor Andrew Gowan, Leisure & Community Development Vice-Chair added: “It is great to see family events return to our parks this summer.  Inclusion is a priority for the council and this year’s programme offers something for everyone. I would encourage residents to check out the Park Life brochure and mark these free events into their summer calendar.

“I would like to thank our local bands for signing up to our programme and offering an hour of musical delight each Sunday afternoon. We have everything from flutes to accordions to brass and silver bands delivering live performances.  The 2022 Park Life programme really does offer something for everyone.”

Carol Ervine, Group Director of Tenant & Client Services at Choice Housing commented: “It is our pleasure to partner with Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council this summer.  This programme of events across the council’s parks will provide free, fun and inclusive activities for the wider community.  It’s fantastic to see our shared spaces being used to bring people together.”
