Staff working at Choice have raised thousands of pounds to help support two very deserving local charities.
Through numerous activities a total of £5,328 has been collected.
Of this total half is going to support volunteers at Moira-based Almost Home to support them in their work rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming hundreds of companion animals right across Northern Ireland.
With equal funds going to Action Mental Health to allow it to enhance the quality of life and employability of people either with mental health needs or a learning disability.
Almost Home and Action Mental Health is the latest in a long line of causes Choice has fundraised for, with others including Action Cancer, Air Ambulance NI, Cancer Fund and Alzheimer’s Society.
Speaking on behalf of Choice’s Fundraising Committee, Graham Woods – who is also a Housing Officer at Choice – said, “This is a fantastic amount and no doubt it will help both of our chosen charities for 2023 to continue to provide vital services in their respective sectors.
“Attention now switches to choosing our two new charities for 2024 and we will be encouraging nominations for those organisations that we have not supported previously,” Graham continued.
As a sign of its successful partnership with Almost Home, it has suggested Choice staff use their two volunteer days with it to experience first-hand what a typical working day looks like.
Leah Gibson, of Almost Home Animal Rescue NI, said: “I would like to thank everyone at Choice for this amazing donation. It will make such a difference going forward and it is greatly appreciated by all of us, not to mention the many animals that are – and will be – in our care.”
