Choice Shared Housing Week kicked off this weekend with a fantastic line-up of events.
First up was an historical walking tour around East Belfast where our tenants came together to learn and explore the ancient townlands once ruled by the last Lord of Clandeboye.
Dungannon’s one mile relay made a strong return at the Hill of the O’Neill on Friday, with over 500 runners taking part alongside supporters, volunteers and the local community. The event, delivered in partnership with the One Mile Relay Team and Galbally Runners, celebrates collaboration and community connections. Congratulations to all the runners and a big thank you to everyone who came out to support.
The excitement continued in Derry-Londonderry on Saturday with the River Rush Raft Race across the Foyle. Participants, with the help of their family and friends, designed and assembled a sturdy raft that could complete the designated 3-mile route. Whilst the race itself was a thrilling challenge for all participants, the event was so much more than just a competition, it was a full-blown celebration of community spirit! The day was packed with live music, mouthwatering food, and fun-filled activities for all ages at Foyle Search and Rescue’s Base.
In Enniskillen, Brassfest was underway in the town’s Buttermarket. Throughout the day, 14 brass bands from across Northern Ireland performed on stage, filling the town with music and drawing in audiences from near and far. Brassfest highlights how music and culture can bring people together to share spaces and strengthen community connections!
Rounding off a busy weekend of events was the Community Funday at Muckamore Cricket Club in Antrim where the whole family got to enjoy cricket games, inflatables and entertainment from Chinese dancers.
We’re excited for the launch of our People Place Space poetry book this evening and have lots more exciting events coming up this week!
