A showcase event has taken place at one of Choice Housing’s newest developments in Belfast which has been designed and built to meet the needs of those aged 55 and over.
Situated close to Beechill Road in the south of the city, Woodland Manor will provide 36 high-quality apartments to future tenants in a convenient and well-connected location. Constructed to a high standard across a trio of attractive three-storey blocks, the mix of accommodation has been carefully designed to meet a range of specific housing needs.
The Cedarhurst development has been developed by Brendan Loughran & Sons and built to CAT1, consisting of 18 two-bedroom, three-person apartments; fourteen one-bedroom apartments for two-person households; and four two-bedroom, wheelchair accessible apartments for three-person households. Tenants will benefit from lift access and each home is finished to a high specification that includes gas-fired central heating, double glazing and a fully fitted modern kitchen. Tenants will also be able to take advantage of the scheme’s strong public transport connections to and from Belfast City Centre and its proximity to both supermarkets and shopping centres. What is more, there is generous on-site parking provision, with fifty-one parking spaces available, alongside dedicated cycle stands at each block. The development is further enhanced by thoughtfully designed communal landscaping, incorporating a mix of soft and hard landscaping, pathways, and seating areas to create a relaxing environment.
Woodland Manor has been deemed suitable for delivery as Shared Housing scheme under the Programme for Government ‘Housing for All’ programme. The Programme has its origins in the NI Executive Together: Building a United Community Strategy which reflects the Executive’s commitment to improving community relations and continuing the journey towards a more united and shared society. A potential £5m will be invested in the shared housing development and associated five-year Good Relations Plan”.
Michael McDonnell, Choice Group Chief Executive, who was among the first people to walk around Woodland Manor said:
“Woodland Manor is an excellent example of our commitment to delivering high-quality, well-designed homes that allow people to live independently and comfortably as they get older. From the standard of the apartments themselves right through to the accessibility features, transport links and shared outdoor spaces, every aspect of this scheme has been carefully considered to meet the needs of its residents”.
Michael concluded: “At Woodland Manor, every tenant can look forward to peaceful surroundings, a friendly community and the convenience of modern, low-maintenance living.”
