Choice has completed a £2.13 million refurbishment of its Fitzroy Court scheme in the centre of Belfast as part of its programme of planned improvement works this year.
The development, comprising of 25 self-contained homes near the vibrant Botanic area, with a mix of one- and two-bedroom units has been upgraded to enhance both the quality of accommodation and improve the overall living environment for Choice tenants.
As part of the 17-month refurbishment, 23 apartments were fully modernised, alongside the successful conversion of the former warden’s house into two one-bedroom flats.
A wide range of significant improvements was delivered to each property at Fitzroy Court, including modern kitchens and bathrooms, upgraded electrics, replacement internal doors and fire doors and the installation and commissioning of more efficient gas boilers.
The communal areas have been enhanced with new furniture, upgraded lighting, and improved security provisions, including the very latest CCTV. Further improvements were delivered to the two communal toilets and the shared kitchen facilities for tenants.
Delivered by McCusker Contracts Limited, work commenced on site in October 2024 and was completed last month. This latest investment once again reflects Choice’s commitment to ensuring current and future tenants benefit from safe, modern, energy-efficient homes.
Wilton Farrelly, Group Director of Asset Services at Choice said: “The completion of Fitzroy Court in Belfast represents another significant investment in our existing housing stock and demonstrates our continued focus on delivering high-quality homes. These improvements will enhance comfort, safety and overall quality for many years to come.”
“Fitzroy Court is another great example of how targeted investment in our existing homes can make a meaningful difference to residents’ day-to-day lives,” he added. “Through a comprehensive programme of improvement works, we have been able to significantly enhance both individual apartments and shared communal spaces. We would also like to thank tenants for their understanding and patience during the works and our partners for delivering the scheme safely, efficiently and to a high standard.”
