The community at Elm Court have created an incredible atmosphere, their collective gardening endeavours are only matched by their love of socialising and celebrating special occasions in the communal lounge.  Tenants at the scheme even enjoy Tai Chi in the peaceful outside space.

The key benefit of sheltered living is the provision of our scheme co-ordinators and 24 hour emergency assistance. This helps our tenants feel safe and secure – knowing that assistance is on-hand in an emergency.

Social activities and contact with other residents enables sheltered living tenants to maintain an active social life even as life circumstances change. Our tenants in sheltered living have overcome issues such as social inclusion, loneliness, isolation, anxiety and depression.

Our scheme co-ordinators are on hand to organise support services and all our sheltered schemes are linked into social help and care services.

Elm Court, is a sheltered living scheme located in the heart of Belfast.

Opened in 1984 by then MP Chris Patten, Elm Court is comprised of 48 self- contained apartments. This includes; 25 single bedroom apartments, 13 double bedroom apartments and one two-bedroom apartment.  There are also an additional nine apartments within the scheme reserved for vulnerable adults of varying ages. The scheme has been a vital social housing provision for Belfast, supporting people to live safely and independently in their own home. In 2018, the scheme benefitted from an £800,000 upgrade to its facilities in full consultation with its tenants.

The central location of the sheltered living scheme has ensured that tenants live full independent lives close to so many amenities while maintaining a level of support.

A recent stand out event at Elm Court, were the Chinese New Year celebrations.  Choice tenants from nearby as well as representatives from our Community Networks joined visited Elm Court to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Everyone had a ball, the tenants particularly appreciated the Chinese writing presented to them.

Situated on Elm Street in Belfast, Elm Court is convenient to local shops, restaurants, a post office, pharmacies and doctor’s surgeries in Donegall Pass, Botanic Avenue and the Dublin Road. The refurbishment of the scheme improves community cohesion with the tenants, while also contributing to their subjective well-being by providing positive and pleasing surroundings.
